Rear end Oil
I saw some Royal Purple 75W90 Synthetic Max Gear Oil for $8 is this ok to use with my car? And no additive is needed correct? Yes Im a tard but I want to be sure about everything
yeah.. from what I understand, most synthetic gear lubes have the limited slip additive already mixed in.
I am using AMSOIL.. Its a dollar more but I get it shipped to my door so I dont have to look around for it..
I also sell the stuff so I like it..
It does have the limited slip additive and I can tell you for sure that its designed to last 500K or more miles so longer than your rear end would probably last anyways..

SO what you guys are saying is its not necessary if I add it or dont add the additive, right? If the rear end of my car doesnt require it then it shouldnt make a difference if I dont add it right? BTW does RP have additive in it already or no? Thanks
ok... most synthetics are said to have it already in it.
What I am saying is that if you are not doing this today or tomorrow, then wait roughly 2 weeks and I will let you know how it turns out with a car that needs additive using none since the bottle says its not needed..
As for royal purple, at one time (last year) I was going to sell their products but found that they did not have enough items for me.. Meaning they were not complete. I wanted everything from filters to lubes.. I found that with AMSOIL.. I also hated having to hunt it down when I couldnt get in touch wiht my friend that works at RP..

2002 model year doesn't require the addative, due to the fact that it is Zexel/ Torsion. I think a bit won't help or hurt, but too much can lead to rear end noise in the 2002. RP has it, at least the bottle I put in stated this on the label.

I just grabbed my sales brochure to make sure but it says that the zexel torsen limited slip differential is standard on any Z28 (2002 at least). Are you sure you don't have a limited slip diff?

all z28 models since 1990 (well 1990 being an iroc) have had it standard, 6 cylinders had it optional with the v6 models from around 96 or 97 on. the manual calls for the additive with the torsen, but it isn't really needed. there are no clutches in it for a friction additive to be needed.
