I think you're overestimating the losses. An AWD car loses around 25%, and those things eat a lot of power.

I think a more realistic figure for a manual would be anywhere between 11-15%, and an automatic anywhere between 15-18%.

Consider that if an auto lost 20% or more, a car that dynos 305rwhp stock would have around 380-385crank hp. That's early Z06 territory. I'm sorry...the LS1s are underrated, but not that much. Crank HP should be around 350 stock, so I highly doubt losses are that high in percentage.

Not really sure exactly what kind of horsepower #'s are associated with that, seeing as the car has never been on a dyno, but my guess is that it would have to have at least 320-330 at the wheels. Does that sound abou right to you?

After inputting your ET in a calculator, your estimated HP to the wheels is: 339rwhp.

Hi everyone,

I took my SS to Aaron Scott at South Georgia Corvette yesterday for a dyno run and pulled 318.4 RWHP and 329 RW of torque bone stock other than an SLP lid. Needless to say I was GLADLY SURPRISED!! Aaron said that was the best he had personally seen on a stock SS or WS-6. Didn't mean to break in on the conversation, but I just had to tell somebody!!!!

Have a great day

First yes there are factory freaks and factory weaklings.
It's not that somehow a different part got installed but
production tolerances/slight variables in machining.
Just like the fit and finish. Do you think that if you hood
doesn't line up like a Lexus that its must be a vette hood.
NO its slight inaccuracy in machinging/modeling and within
engine pieces this could have a porting result.

second Parasitic loss acording to GM engineers is
12% for M6. Marketing guys will tell you more so you
think you have even more flywheel. But who do you
think would know more and mechanics and physics.
15-18 for A4.

third the ratings for 01 and up are exzagerated.
The LS6 intake isn't this vital part unless you have
over 400 rwhp. It's good for about 7HP so when
its said a 98 can dyno 280 and 02 320 and this
being the biggest difference it doesn't add up.
All years typically dyno 295-310 stock

308rwhp bonestock on a 99 with no lid, no nothing. I believe drivetrain loss is probably 12-15% for a manual also. F-bodies also typically dyno a tad higher than LS1's in Corvettes due to a few more horsepower loss through the IRS. Which is ironic, considering the horsepower ratings. 305 vs. 350 Not that the f-body is faster, just thought that it was interesting we actually dyno higher, but are rated a whopping 45 horsepower less.

Awesome I think I'll always own an F-body. A highly underrated car at a very affordable price, what more could you ask for? My last car was a 3000GT VR-4. It was a quick car, but GOD was it heavy! Then, the second day I owned it, the tranny went out. I called the people just to let them know, and they actually took it back! That was definitely a relief, and I set out on my quest to find the best bang for the buck car out there. I drove my F-150 for a few weeks, but then came across this website. I was looking at the older LT1s and was really impressed with their engine specs in relation to their price. I immediately put my truck up for sale and bought my LT1. I fell in love when the seller opened the garage door and cranked it up I've been more than pleased to this day with my car, but I'm just looking for an upgrade. Sadly, my 1994 Chevy Camaro Z28 is currently up for sale if anyone is interested, and I am in the market for a 1998 Camaro Z28. It doesn't need to be perfect, and miles don't really matter though I prefer something with less than 100K. I'm a college student, so I can't really pay more than 8-9K. I can't wait til I get my hands on an LS1 and some extra money and just do what I please, hehe Thanks everyone for their help!

Let me put it to you like this.

You're running mid 13s with boltons? I have a friend back home with a 6 speed 2002 WS6. He has a magnaflow muffler, Hal Suspension, 4.10 gears, a lid and Nittos. After a dyno tune session, hes so far ran a best of 12.38 @ 112mph!

LS1s definately have a lot of potential. I say if you can afford the upgrade, go for it.

Yesterday was pretty cool out side but the garage we dynoed in was kinda warm nothing serious tho. It was like 72 degrees outside and I would guess probably 80 or 82 in the bay..

I heard one guy's car that sounded just absolutely amazing. Said a Mufflex exhaust. Honestly, I haven't heard of them being a really good company. Any more info on these guys? I took a look at their website. They seem reputable, but their prices are really low, low enough for you to question quality.

Mufflex makes good stuff. You can get them in 3.5 or 4" tubing in single or dual outlet set ups (single actually flows better), something you can't get in a GMMG is larger piping. The difference in price is a)you're paying for the GMMG name. They want these things to be a bit exclusive so they charge out the wazzoo 2) GMMG is stainless and I think the Mufflex is aluminized. I've had aluminized systems last 10 years, most people don't keep cars that long. Plus you could buy 2 Mufflex systems for less than the price of 1 GMMG.

Which muffler was on that guys system? They come w/Flowmaster or Spintech mufflers.
