rattling in tranny
rattling in tranny
hey guys, I got in my car the other day and when i started it there was a vibration rattling sound coming from the tranny. I think it was a metal cover thing that goes across the exhaust. I was just wondering if it woiuld be stupid to take that off?
Need a little more info on that one.
Does it do it every time you start your car?
Does the rattling come from inside your tyranny, or around it at all? Or is it coming from the engine compartment down by your exhaust manifold. If you have narrowed it down to a Thin metal covering, then it’s a heat shield, and it’s there for a reason, so I wouldn’t recommend taking it off. Just try to find out why it’s lose and tighten it up.
Let us know the exact location.

sorry.....it does it constantly the vibration from the engine is what causes it to rattle.
It's not inside the tranny, I'm pretty sure it is the metal sheild thing that goes over the exhaust just behind the tranny. (But from inside the car it sounds like its coming from inside the tranny.)

Yeah that heat shield over the exhaust manifold needs to stay there. It protects the rest of the car from the immense heat that those things put off. I hope it’s just loose. In that case just try to tighten it back up. (if it’s on the passenger side have fun.
) But yeah it has to stay there
