Rattle in rear of 2002 Z28

My 2002 Z28 has a significant rattle in the rear (left side I think). It sounds like a tailpipe/muffler rattle but I cannot find the source of this annoying rattle. It does not rattle on a smooth road only when on a rough road. Anybody have any suggestions on tracing down the source of this rattle?

Re: Rattle in rear of 2002 Z28

Could it be the jack or spare tire rattling around? I had an annoying rattle in my 2000 Z, and that ended up being it.

Regarding the muffler, make sure someone hasn't run over something and bent up the exhaust. It doesn't take much to make the exhaust come in contact with the frame and make noise.

I agree, if its not exhaust related it just sounds like the spare or jack came loose, check the antenna mtor in there too if you have electric one.

Could be a rear LCA bushing too, but ud usually only hear that around corners.

Most likely either the rubber mount for the exhaust hanger is missing (passenger side, near muffler inlet), or you have a broken sway bar end link.
