Rattle Noise Under Car
Hey Guys-
I have a 2000 M6. When I first got the car it had no problem. A few weeks later I got a cutout and soon after I noticed I rattling sound coming from under my car towards the rear end. Then a few months after that I put on a Loudmouth Exhaust hoping the rattling was coming from my stock exhaust and would go away. Well now its still rattling from the same spot but its not quite the same sound as before. It is not only annoying but embarrasing also. The sound usually only happens for the first few miles when i turn the car on and after that only if i dont give enough gas when starting out from a stop. It never rattles when driving normal down the road. Any help would be much appreciated.

Where is the cut-out mounted? Is it welded or clamped?
The reason I ask is because I had the same rattle when I 1st started the car as well and it would go away after the exhaust warmed up. I finally figured out that my stock Y-pipe to cat-back pipe clamping bolt had worked its way loose and I could actually slide the pipe back and forth and make it rattle when cold. I added a couple of washers to the bolt, tightened it down, and my rattle problem is solved.

I had a similar problem on my '01 Z28. A rattle from the rear right around the exhaust. Turned out that it wasn't the exhaust itself, but a defective exhaust hanger. Might want to take a look at those, to make sure they're not loose or broken.

I had a rattle that turned out to be a small ring of metal looked like a liver about 1/8th inch wide that may have been trimed off the intermediate pipe. What scary is that it looked like it came from the factory that way, and it was just rattling around around the pipe.

I have a rattle under my car, but its not too consistent. I only hear it if im driving on a sorta bumpy road. I cant find where in the hell its coming from and its starting to make me angry. I put my car on my buddies lift at his shop, checked all the hangars, nothing around the exhaust was loose.
