Ran the SS

I ran the SS last night. I've had the car for 2 days. The track absolutely sucked last night. I couldn't even give it half throttle in first gear without blowing tires off through first and second gear. Anyways, enough excuses. Best time was a 13.8 @ 105.2 with a 2.41 60' - that's 100% bone stock down to the paper filter. I have no doubt the car will run a low 13 at 106-107 with some traction. I was happy about the mph, but there was nothing I could do about the ET. Wednesday night street drags out here = no track prep and a bunch ricers dragging water to the starting line.

Note: If you have something constructive about how to launch a bone stock LS1, I'd love to hear it. If you are going to tell me I suck at driving, save it. I have over 300 passes in my '97 and have cut consistent 2.0 60's on street tires so I'm not a total tard hehe. New, improved times to come in a week or two.

Well, I figured out the rev limiter is at 6200. I was shifting at 5700 rpm at the track yesterday cause I was used to a stock LT1 rev limiter. I'm sure pulling it to 6100 rpm will help the mph some.

The tach on our cars sucks....when your at 6200, it can read 5700. At least it does on my car. My tach is off by a full 500 rpms

Yeah, the tach seems slow in 1st gear...it will hit the limter around 5800 rpm. I pulled third all the way up to ~ 6150 rpms on the freeway tonight and the tack kept up, so I was only shifting around 5700 at the track in 2nd and 3rd.

I just had a similar run to yours. You need to get the car up to redline before the shifts though. With standing water on the starting line from the ricer mob that was ahead of me in staging I went 2.328 60' 13.41 @ 109.46 stock. You have a lot to gain by using the rest of the rpm. The extending your shifts will put you right back into the LS1s sweet spot when you hit the next gear.

if you are like me and want to keep it stock to see what it pulls bone stock BRAVO!..

now what I suggest is feathering which you probably already did.. I set my revs at about 2600 then as I am waiting for the other guy to stage I let them drop slowly and gradually and then go.. I figure I am leaving at about 2Kish and feathering for half the gear, then I lay into all the rest hard..

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to keep it stock for a while. I always try to maximize the current setup before doing more mods.
