Ram Air Cut Out
Ram Air Cut Out
I HAVE A 2002 Z28 AND DID THE "FREE CUT OUT" FOR RAM AIR (UNDER YOUR AIR FILTER). QUESTION-HAS ANYONE PULLED OUT THAT PLASTIC PIECE IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR? DO YOU GET MORE AIR IN THERE OR IS TOO DANGEROUS WITH NOTHING IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR? (I THINK IT IS ALSO THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT I ALWAYS RUB ON THE CEMENT WHEN PULLING IN MY DRIVEWAY)
THANKS DUDES

Do not remove the plastic. It directs air into you radiator. Your cooling fans will be unable to keep your engine from overheating at highway speeds and difficult anytime your not at an idle. Overheating your aluminum block is a bad thing. That is unless your looking for an excuse to rebuild it
(as long as you don't crack the heads/block).
(as long as you don't crack the heads/block).
Go ahead and take them out. There are two. One on the top and one that attaches on the bottom. I had them out in both my 99SS and 2002SS. I have never had a problem with the car running hot. The air dam is a different thing altogether. Leave that on. It directs air up into the radiator. Oh yeah I have the Super Sucker Ram Air with both the radiator shrouds removed. I live in Minnesota now where it's a little colder, however when I lived in Memphis for a year I had the shrouds out with no rise in temp.
