ram air

hey guys i got a 2002 z28 and the other day at the race track a fellow camaro guy came up to me and asked what i have done to my car and i really only have a flowmaster and nos but it dosent work because i dont have the 300 dollar timming retard device to make it work properally. well anyway he told me that i could take my stock air lid and cut out the bottom and that would make ram air if this is true or not i dont know but i was fulling around the other day with the car and i took off the air lid and cut the bottom out and under the air lid i found a big piece of plastic and it looked like this piece of plastic was restricting my air flow there was only about an inch gap about 6inches long and i took out that piece and i seem to have a better throttle responce. i was wondering if any of you guys have tried this and does it work or isitin my head?

Re: ram air

its not a true ram air btw, however if you go with the ssra, its a cai at low speeds but acts like a real ram air at 50+ mph. if you bought that you will need to do the free ram air anyway.

Re: ram air

If you were to buy the SSRA or another ramair scoop it would take the place of the free mod. I had it when I bought my car. You prolly won't see any real gains out of it. just some more cool air.

The more the merrier, tho...

No. All free mods combined MIGHT drop .1 sec off your ET. Even the SSRA is a MAYBE about the .1 sec drop.
