Radiator messed up??

If i let my car sit an idle for awhile" in the warmer weather that is" i can smell radiator fluid and its even been so boiling hot that its started over flowing out of the excess resovoir over on the left in the engine bay or whatever its called, so when i sit an idle i have to kick my fan switch on or else the car will get real hot and radiator fluid will start spewing out of that resovoir any ideas on what the prob is, i have a 160 stat in there too,adn slp fan switch, could it be a faulty one stat? Any help is appreciated.

If you are idling you will have to have the fan switch on otherwise there will be no air flowing through the radiator to cool off the car.

I don't think there is a problem.

A manual fan switch is nice at the track, being that you can turn the fan(s) on even when the car's not running. On the street though, you shouldn't "mess" with it, IMO.

IIRC, the SLP fan switch has three positions and one of them is "stock/factory fan operation." Leave the switch there (for normal driving) and I don't think you'll have any problems.
