Hey, I'm replacing my water pump right now, and I had a question. When I removed it it had the metal gaskets with the little rubber "D" and "O" rings in them to seal off the ports. Now that I'm putting the new pump on with the new metal gaskets I'm wondering if I have to put RTV on the gaskets? The instructions say to do so but only vaguely so I'm not sure if that is to hold them on place while you install the pump or if it's to actually seal. When I removed the old pump I saw no residue of an old gasket so I;m leaning towards the "hold the gasket in place" reason, but I wanted to ask first that way I don't dump $20 of dexcool on my driveway.
