That is the air intake for AIR pump. If your lid doesn't come with the adapter then it should have come with a small separate filter that fits the hose. For now you can just put any kind of foam or paper filter over the hose until you get the small filter.

autozone sells the little filter for like $10.. then you can connect the hose away from everything..

When you install the filter be careful not to kink the hose or you'll throw a SES light. I zip-tied mine to the small eyelet near the top of the radiator.

Re: Quick LID help, working on it right now

you can if you keep shopping around.. try other autoparts stores.. its just a simple filter.. similar to the ones people install on their head covers..

Re: Quick LID help, working on it right now

Virtually every autozone I have gone into has had them. Its in their cheesy import add on section where everything is "Type R" looking.. Last time I was in there, the same filter had a little "Iron Cross" stamped in the top.. geesh some of this stuff is just such commercial crap! but hey, its under the hood so whats it matter, huh?

Advanced Autoparts is very similar to Autozone and should carry it as well. (its actually the first place I purchased one.. and have since been purchasing them at Autozone.. I end up selling them to people with lids that dont have the hose plugged.. makes me $10.. hehe) I am still on my stock lid..

Re: Quick LID help, working on it right now

yea, but which one did you go to?

i went to 2 in my area, and neither of them had anything like it. i did find a small cone shaped filter that looked similar, but only fits over 3/8-1/2", and not into. and those were in the sport compact section.

i even gave them a k&n part#, the one DaddySS posted, and it didn't come up on their computer.

gonna try some of them small speed shops in the area next.
