Questions on Skip Shift Eliminator

Ok the thing is about 30 dollars. The only problem is i dont have that. I was inquiring about the free mod, as of yet im not very car literate and if its not easy i dont think i should attempt it. I put on my slp air box and filter which were horrible easy. If some1 has a link with directions with pictures it would do me wonders. Is the free mod worth it, should i just spend the 30? And do you recommend it?

The first mod I did was the skip shift eliminator. I've never heard of a free mod for this. If you don't have the $30, then save your nickles 'till you do. The little plug-in device takes like 30 seconds to install, and is worth it's weight in gold

You don't have 30 bucks? Or you don't have 30 bucks to spend on this Mod? Damn, filling up my tank alone is the better part of 30 bucks.

Is this mod worth it? It's like the second thing I did (I bought my !CAGS). Is it easy, yeah. The worst part is probably getting under the transmission. You should do the mod- but I guess you should do the poor man's version:

JaysZ what do you mean by "It's like the second thing I did (I bought my !CAGS)." The !CAGS and Skip Shift Eliminator are one in the same, are they not? Am I missing something?

Oh, and here's a cool site I found today .... lots of good stuff http://www.xse.com/leres/ss/

Is this guy on this board?

I was reading somewhere that these things aren't legel in states that have emmisions regulations bla bla bla..... Does that mean anything? Is it okay to still get it? I live in northern Cali where emmisions and cats are big things to have and enforce. I'm sure they wouldn't even know I installed but I was just curious.

I have the money i just need it for gas / insurance. Is their any difference from the 30 $ slp one and the .50 cent radio shack one? Are you jsut paying for the name or is the slp a better product?

BlackTA I know their not the same I dont think thats what he's implying. Computer aided gear selection(skip shift) and the elimination of the process(Skip shift eliminater).

Ferocity02 where you at? Near Redding(true north)
I dont THINK it'll effect emissions testing pass or fail, the car isnt in gear while being tested.Besides as easy as it is to do worse case you take it out for an hour every 2yrs.But CAGS it is for emissions to keep it lower while drivin, designed by some GM brainiac no doubt.

777Get the $30 part for peace of mind and Quality?

Do the $.50 resistor. All it does is replace the resistance of the coil wire in the solenoid so the computer thinks it is still opperating. Just make sure you get a good connection, seal it up good with tape and never look back. Later>>>>>>>

Here's the write up on how to do the "free" mod, it's very easy so don't waste the $30 you don't have.

OMG, I get worse gas mileage with the Skip shift because I shifter at a higher RPM just so I don't hit it. I also have a really hard time going the speed limit
