Questions regarding longtube install.

I have been throwing around the idea of Installing a set of longtubes on my car for a while.
I have picked out the American racing header/catted y pipe combo and i plan on keeping all emissions equipment. I am also planning on installing poly motor and transmission mounts while i have the manifolds out and i will be using a tune from madz28.
I have done a longtube install before so that wont be an issue, but i have questions regarding the mounts and emissions stuff.

1. I have heard that even though cats are still used s SES light can be triggered by the different readings from the rear o2 sensors. Is this true?

2. Will there be any affects on the functions of the EGR and AIR systems with longtubes?

3. Is it safe to raise the motor by the oil pan? I have heard of people using this method, but if it is not recommended i will rent a hoist.

4. As far as materials go i have the headers/y pipe, gaskets, header bolts, exhaust clamps, mounts, tune, and o2 extensions. Do i need 1 or 2 extensions, and will anything else be needed?

Sorry for the long post, i want to make sure i do everything right.
Any replies are greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I ran cats on my LT's for years with no SES light regarding the O2's..

No.. Read above. I ran Emissions equipment on my LT's for years with no ill effects.

DO NOT JACK THE ENGINE BY THE OIL PAN!!!!! It's aluminum and it WILL crack.

2 o2 extensions.. one for each side. Other than that. you should be good.. I used stock bolts w/ no problems. they're still in there 15k miles later..

Jacking up and/or supporting the engine by the oil pan is fine. Just make sure you use a block of wood between the jack and the pan to cushion and distribute the load and it will be OK.

^^^ agreed, use an 8-12'' piece of 2x4-2x6 to spread the weight.

If the rear O2s become a problem just have them turned off in the PCM. It will have no effect on function of emmissions.

If you're doing ES poly motor mounts make sure that you have a good enough heat source (a propane torch will do)there to release the clam shell from the rubber and a BFH and the proper sized punch for the rivets. It's kind of a tedious job but worth it.

I sold a catted header y-pipe to someone and sent me an email months later saying no SES yet (he had bungs welded in behind)

If you get the emissions compliant ones, no

You can. Ones I did we had a hoist.

2 extensions, and that is all
There ya go!

Thanks for the replies.
In regards to the rear o2 sensors, if i have then tuned out will they show like a "not ready" status or something similiar if i ever have to go through emssions?
Thanks again.

Yes, tuning them out will put them in a "not ready" status. However, if you install 02 simulators in place of tuning, it will take care of this.

Cool, I'll probably just run the rear o2's and if they give me a problem I'll switch to the simulators.
One more question i have is where do you lift the motor from?
I did plugs/wires last week and didn't see any thing obvious, but i wasn't looking very hard either.
Thanks

great choice of header set up, thats what I have and i love them, they slide right into place with no modifications at all. I was throwing codes for the rear O2s(P0420 and P0430), tuned out the sensors and haven't had any problems since.

Oh yeah, also I see you have GMMG, do you think you could post a sound clip once you have the new headers on? I am heavily considering getting GMMG to replace my borla adjustable.
