Question for those with 4.10 and M6 LS1

I'm going to be getting a 2002 Z28 or SS soon and I was thinking about doing gears. the only other mods I will be doing to the car are CAI and catback. My questions are:
How bad will 4.10 effect my gas milage?
What kind of 1/4mi. times should I get with these mods?
how will this effect the top speed in each gear?
should I just go with the 3.73?

if u want 4.10 then bend over cuz your gonna get screwed on gas.....or get a trailer hitch and pull a gas tank behind you

just get 3.73 they r good and u wont lose a lot of gas mileage

don't bother getting 3.73's .
complete waste of time and money.
i drive 100 miles per day with my 4.10s and get 20 mpg.

think about it..3.42 to 3.73 is such a smaller difference (9% increase in torque multiplication). going to 4.10's is 20% increase in torque multiplication. are 3.73's worth the money? definately not!

4.10's are more fun on the street and the track.

As long as you dont beat the **** out of it you wont lose that much gas mileage. I have 4.10s and heads/cam and a LOT more and get 14mpg in the city and around 19-20 on the highway. 4.10s will not kill your gas mileage. As for track times depending on traction and power you might find yourself hitting the rev limiter in 4th as you trap. I ran 12.80s with 4.10s but I also have a slow *** 99. In a 02 you should be around 12.40-12.50s on DRs.

EDIT: Only ran with gears, havent run new setup. Hoping for high 11s.

z28x,
i have a slow *** 99.

but i was always able to turn good times with it.
see website for details.
cliff notes version below:
-all stock with drag radials: 12.93 at 107.7, 290 hp, 310 TQ.
-lid, cat-back, drag radials, 4.10's: 12.55 at 109, 315 hp, 328 TQ.
-cam, headers, all bolt-ons, 12.0 at 118, 387 hp, 370 TQ.

note: on the 12.55 run, valve springs were getting weak and affecting ET and mph. replaced when i got the cam.

I dont know where you got the idea that 4:10 will effect the mileage so much. As you can see from other posters they get minimal loss in mileage with 4:10's. I have heard the myth of less milage is because you will romp on it more with the 4:10's because they are alot of fun.

3:73 for autos
4:10 for m6

That is how it has been the best benefit for LS1 engines.
