QTP headers and ory-pipe
What is the word on these? Are they a good choice to go with and has anybody had any problems? I'm about to order in couple days I just don't want to get them and have problems. thanks

I have always heard good things about QTP....I believe their headers are stainless like Kooks. If I'm wrong someone feel free to correct me, I have heard good things though. A guy here in town runs them on his 2000 Camaro SS.
Absolute best headers out there...Get the race style with no emissions and HVMC...
The Y pipe is bolt on, but i suggest taking it to a shop after you put it on so they can perfectly position it and weld it for ground clearance...
If you're lowered, be easy over speed bumps and weird inclines...
Performance of these is the best, and they look great too...

These headers are top notch....i have had mine for a couple years now and love them still. I used a texas speed ory, it took some work, but i finally got it to fit. I want to replace it with a qtp ory, but it costs so much...You definitely have to jack the front of the car way high to get them in if you are doing it yourself. Being one of the longest long tubes makes it harder to get them under your car, but once you do, you will be happy.
^ Yeah for sure, you need to at least get 15" of air under those front tires for them to go in, the car will be insanely high for using a floorjack, was pretty scary looking...If you have a lift they only take about 2 hours to get done...
You may want to consider having a shop fab you up a Y pipe, for ground clearance, as the QTP Y pipe is very low...Mostly in part to being full 3", they go mostly for flow...The flowmaster merge is a nice treat too...If you plan on lowering your car, i'd have to say watch out...Just need to be careful...Over time i developed some pinholes in the Y pipe that I had to repair...

here's an idea of how low they hang...The Y pipe was welded and fitted as tight as I could, and you can still see them...Car is lowered 1.5 or so...

They make a fantastic header; except for when they have quality control issues which isn't rare. There have been quite a number of complaints about the fitment and/or welding on these headers and apparently the customer service you get from them isn't very good when you do have a problem. As far as I remember they don't offer a stainless Y pipe either, and although a good design...The Y-pipe they do offer seems to have very poor fitment. FWIW, I wouldn't buy them. Some other options are: Kook's Headers have an excellent reputation and far less complaints. Their Y pipe isn't the best design but it fits decent. ARH is new to the game but offers an excellent header/ y-pipe combo that has all the nice features, great design and great fit....but at a fairly steep price. Edelbrock also offers some stainless headers that IMO are VERY nice. They fit great, have large 3 1/2" HVMC and their Y pipe has a very good merge and fits very well....however the collectors/02 bungs, etc come uninstalled and it will cost a few extra bucks to have a shop weld these on.
It is a bolt on system but like alot of aftermarket parts sometimes fit isn't perfect. I am sure there are alot of people that have had great results with QTP headers, but there is enough of complaints(quite a few actually) that I would be concerned. Of the people that complain the majority also claimed that dealing with the people at QTP was not a good experience. Personally if I was going to pony up cash for stainless headers I would spend more to know that if I had a problem that the company's customer service would fix it for me.

You might also want to consider getting the Mufflex (part # LS1-HR)
(www.mufflex-performance.com). This is a rubber bumpstop that prevents the Y pipe from banging the underside of the car activating the knock sensor when you get on it hard.......about $40
So how less is the ground clearance with the QTP y-pipe? I might just consider buying the dynatech supermaxx headers package if these qtp's are really that big of a problem. Are the dynatech's a better fit?
Any longtube and Y pipe combo will sacrifice ground clearance...If you don't want problems don't mod your car, simple as that...If you want the power, don't bitch about ground clearance...
QTP's are not that big a problem, trust me...Just take it easy on high speed bumps...
I went from Mac midlength headers and Y, and they are supposed to fit best, and i still had to be easy on speed bumps...
Here's an easy way to do this...Drive on the road, you won't have any problems...
