purchasing 02 ss slp???

looking at an 02 ss slp with almost 140k on it, 6spd. Is there anything special about those ss slp's like engine wise? Any common problems, I ve had some lt1's before. I looked up the specs and somewhere said 345hp. Its For sale for under 8grand. Any comments would be appreciated. thanks

itll probably have a noisy valvetrain and piston slap. Ask to hear a cold start.

8k seems a little high. you can buy an ls1 car with half the miles for that price. unless you really just want an ss.

If it has the Bilsteins and the good wheels then that is probably a fair price. If it doesn't, you could probably get something cheaper. Like they were saying, SLP just put bolt-ons on the car from the facory. The bilstein package is NICE!

The car has 140k miles on it, the factory shocks are going to be shot anyway.

Re: purchasing 02 ss slp???

I personally would buy a low mileage z28 for the same price. But if you want an SS 6500 isnt too bad seeing how its an 02 (last year) and comes with ls6 intake and 241 heads. Could potentially have an ls6 block too. offer 4500, see what happens, maybe he'll meet at 5k, thats the most id pay.

ls1 cars with 70ish thousand miles go for 7-8k all day, locally and on forums. just saying lol

Any SLP options will be listed on a sticker on the passenger door.

Why not just buy a 1992 Honda civic. I heard if you buy one with a body kit it get about 70 more HP. Oh and don't forget the v-tech stickers, they add 20 hp each.
