Pulleys?
#5
the pulley on the crank is smaller and the alternator pulley is larger. With the smaller crank pulley it causes all of your accessories to slow down to a more efficient level giving you more HP. Hope this helps... this is a basic explanation someone please elaborate on this some more.

There are two brands of pulleys for the LS1, SLP and ASP. They function about the same...ASP sells three sets. Set one is a 25% underdrive pulley only, kit two is a 25% underdrive pulley with a 15% overdrive alt pulley. This kit puts the alternator pulley RPM back at about stock, and it is designed for cars with aftermarket stereos and other accessories that draw a lot of power. Kit three was my choice, and it has a 25% underdrive pulley with a 15% under drive alt pulley. It offers the most horsepower gain, but drops you volt meter to just above the hash marks at idle, but it charges right back up when you move. I ran mine with everything I could turn on at idle for 30 mins with no problems. All kits use a different size belt than stock, which is included, as is a new bolt for the lower pulley. Installation is a piece of cake with an impact wrench. It would be near impossible by hand unless you are a gorilla, the torque spec is 240 ft lbs!
Hope this helps!

As long as you are not going to run big stereos and neon, I'd get the alt under drive pulley They will only enhance any power adding mods you can do.
They cost a little more, but I am all about maximizing horse power with my car!
