Hello this is my frist post here. Well my best friend just got a 98 TransAm and yesterday we where driving it and a belt came off and it got hot , So hot that he said antifrez was comeing out of it.
so to day he called me and tolde me what happend so we put a belt on. Now its ticking like a lifter is bad. My qustion is two part would that make a lifter go bad and if it is the lifter wouldent it trow code.

Could be a piston slapping or a rod knocking.
He might have totally ruined the motor by not watching his guages.

 

Well my dad pop the valve cover off yesterday and we found out what it was it was a rocker arm. Has anybuddey had this problem befor?

 

It seems to be quite common.
