pro 5.0 problem.. help!

I instgalled the pro 5.0 shifter a week or so ago, and have loved it... until now.. I installed the harnal shiftg light tonight... and after completing the installation, I decided to take the car out for a few full throttle spins.... Everything went well, but when I took the car out again later on, the shifter felt weird.. it is hard to explain but here goes... there seems to bee too much "play" in the shifter now.... ie- if it's in nutral, i can press it at least an inch up or down, before it 'hits' where the gear is.. .after I put it in gear (reguardless of the gear) there is an inch or so of play up and down.. no play to the right or left, but up and down there is slop in it.........instead of being solid, like how it used to be I hope someone has an idea of what the problem is.... please post, I hate it when things go wrong like this

the shifter handle is connected to the base by two bolts.. you'll need an allen key to tighten them..

take them out, clean the threads, make sure the washer has some spring in it.. put some locktite on and button everything tite.. let it sit for a while..
