Pro 5.0 adjustable stop bolts??

The installation of my 5.0 will be this weekend and I've been reading about the stop bolts. Some install pages say you dont need them and some say you do? Any negative sides to backing them all the way off and tightening the bolts or just removing them completely?

I dont think you have to have them. The T-56 has built in stops from what I've heard. I like the stops and the "click" it makes.

Yep, no stops is why there are so many bent shift forks. I'm using the stops on the Pro 5.0 in the SS. Why not?

LT1 guy here, got a question for you pro 5.0 guys

I installed one on my 95 T/A and after a few weeks noticed from time to time, when i was really ripping thru the gears, on the 2nd to 3rd shift i would hit the divider between 1st and 3rd instead of sliding into 3rd.

anyone else had this problem or know what wrong with it?

Btw dont mean to hijack the thread, i used my stops

no worries. my thread is your thread.

I finished the 5.0 install and used the stops. I dont need a bent fork. I'll have pics of the install and the finished product up on my cardomain page sometime tomorrow.

Quit trying to aim for third. By trying to push it over into third you're hitting the gate between 3rd and 5th. The Pro 5.0 is designed to almost shift itself into 3rd. Put your hand right square behind the **** elbow horizontal and at your side and shove it straight forward it goes right into 3rd. You have to cup it and pull it towards you to hit 1st.
Go out and practice it while driving normally. Run it up to 3000 in second then just clutch and slam it forward. If it mistakenly hit 1st no harm no foul. You'll get a feel for it.
