Shaner, Jantzer, Bauer, SLP, the list goes on. You can "port" your own. Actually it isn't porting as in making it larger, just cleaning it up. Instructions are on ls1howto.com or installuniversity.com.
W/just bolt ons you wont need a larger one.

Re: Ported Tb?
BBK and a "ported tb" are two different things.
stock tb is 75mm and most aftermarket ones are 80 or bigger.
there is a radiused lip on the front side of the tb blade that actually makes the bore diameter smaller than the 75mm. this is what is removed when "ported".
the gains in flow are not very significant, however the part throttle response is said to increase. i've ported mine, using a lathe instead of a grinder. however my car was under the weather when i installed it so i couldn't tell you about felt gains.
here is a diagram i drew up to illistrate
my dad is a machinist, i've talked with him and i think he's gonna start offering the port work (just machining down the lip) for $50 plus shipping. he won't have cores so you'd have to ship your unit. here is a pic of the finished product. PM me if you are interested.

Re: Ported Tb?
just a thought.. if he can also set it up to open the butterfly a tad more (i think there is an installuniversity write up on it) that would be a good all in one deal..
would be worth hitting a salvage yard for a TB and trying it out to see..

Spend the $95.00 and be happy
Re: Ported Tb?
psycho..
the problem that comes with trying that would be how to get a bigger blade. i suppose you could machine one if you could get thin enough aluminum (or SS). but it's alot more difficult to get the mounting holes on the blade perfect and all that jazz.
not to mention you'd have to destroy a TB probably to see how much material you can take off...would suck to break through a thin section of metal.
i think he'll stick with just the simple 45min process of removing the lip.

Re: Ported Tb?
I think psycho is referring to the throttle bumpstop mod.
http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm
The stop doesn't allow the blade to open totally.
Another thing to do is fill in the big hole and drill to allow some air through. This smooths the airflow even more.
check out the TB on this and see what I'm talking about:http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=11

Re: Ported Tb?
yes but if you go too far, your tps voltage will be out of range and trip the SES code.
you'd have to have it installed on a car, run a scanner and do each TB specific.
as a weekend machinist (retired after 30+ yrs as an engineer) he probably isn't willing to do that much work...specially since he has no LS1 to istall it on.

Re: Ported Tb?
now THAT he could do...
hmmm...i may take mine off again and try that.
although it really isn't needed if you have a way to watch the TPS voltage. i mean once you grind it down...it won't change.
