Ported/polished heads....

Well,I finally bent a pushrod and that messed up my valve seals.Instead of being smart and just fixing the problem,I went and bought a stock set of 1999 heads. They have been to the machine shop, they were mildly ported/polished, have brand new stock parts (springs/retainers/pushrods), and a valve job.I am putting a cam in this summer and it comes with new springs and things,so that's why I went back stock (also because I was broke! ).My question is,other than fixing my problem (dyno shows me down about 20rwhp), will the ported/polished heads give me any gain over stock when my heads were in good shape? In other words, will I only get my 20hp back or will I see maybe 30-40?Anybody have any experience with these heads and machine work?Thanks...

you should definatly see some additional gain...how much...hard to tell

but i'd be VERY interested in knowing!

i would think on a stock cam, no other mods made...probably 10-15hp

I have a custom tune. While I was getting that done is when we discovered the bad parts. As soon as I get the heads installed I plan on hitting the same dyno again and tweaking the car a little more. The tuning was done by Jeff Creech (aka the Milkman) and has done wonders for my car even with the bad heads. He got me 10rwhp over what I drove up with and that's on bad heads! I really can't wait to see what the tuning will do with the cam (230I/236E)
