Re: Ported MAF ends...gians?

possibly for a short time, i've heard that the "learning" ability of the computer compensates for any gains and pretty much returns to normal

who knows...

get it dynoed

They really only provide gains on cars that are running rich, because they actually let unmetered air through. If your car is running lean, they will cause problems.

Try probable power losses and detonation.

Go to a decent tuner and they'll tell you to stick with your stock MAF.

Re: Ported MAF ends...gians?

On a totally stock car they will gain you a FEW hp just cuz it leans you out. When I had Lid/filter and then added MAF ends my car just threw codes and detonated over 5K RPM. As most tuners will and have told you they are a lost cause, sorry. No one in my club runs them, with the heat out here in AZ they don't do well

First of all, they make the car LEAN, not rich. Secondly, I dont know any tuner who will tune with them on, mostly all of them want stock MAF's.

i know that was why i siad more rich becuase it makes the car run more lean, so make it run moe rich to compensate

LOL...I've heard tuners tell people to come back when they have a stock MAF.

Re: Ported MAF ends...gians?

i had VHP install their MAF ends and dyno'ed it. here's the results. http://www.stealthram.com/familypics...mafhousing.jpg

gained 2 peak hp and almost 8 hp after peak. is it worth $100.00 new for such little gain? only if you are going to stay in the upper rpms where the benefit is. they have been on since april 04. no ill effects because of it.

Two things ... did you do an AFR and what do you think the PCM is going to do with miscalibrated MAF readings when the temp isn't 69 degrees?

Re: Ported MAF ends...gians?

I know some pretty fast/very streetable (10 sec NA 6 speed 346ci cars) that are running MAX ported zo6 mafs. Yes it really throws off the tune, but as long as you arent doing mail order tuning, you should be able to get everything squared away making more power, and also safely.

they read o2 readings from the PCM when it was done. before readings were 980-1002 mV. after was 890-910 mV. it'll do the same thing it's been doing since i installed it. run and drive everyday. no pings, no rattles, no knock even on 175 n2o.

what do you think a PCM will do if you dynotune in 69* weather then go run in 90* weather?
