Planning out my future LS1

okay, im 95% sure im selling my 67 camaro ss and buying a 99 camaro ss.

heres my plan, tell me roughly how much it will cost me, how much hp gain i will have, and my gas mileage.

80mm throttle body
air filter
long tube headers
loud mouth exhaust
program the computer
and a hot cam. ( will the hotcam negativly affect the engine over time?) and what else would i have to change for it to accept hotcam? lifters?

what do you think my 1\4 mile times would look like with all that?

and will the rearend and 6 speed transmission brake because of the power?

Skip the 80mm Throttlebody until you are making big power, like 450hp+. The stock is fine, or you can buy a ported one from Thunder or Katech Racing for about $150 compared to $400!!!

Use the money you save to buy an intake lid, TSP or Whisper should do you well. Loud mouth is a fine choice I've heard good things about the Hot Cam, ask around a little bit more, look at other options.

Those mods won't make enough power to damage the rear end, unless you drag race excessively. When you get some big power adders going, then you can look into a rear end. The T-56 tranny is a stout piece of work It is the same one used in the 2003 Cobra which are putting out 390+ hp. I think I've seen some 10 sec and even 9 sec cars using the stock T-56, with a new clutch set-up ofcouse.

This is what i'm doing right away once I get mine...

TSP Lid
Super Sucker Ram Air
Eibach Prokit
BMR Subframes (boxed)
Pro-5.0 shifter
Corsa Catback

That should be throwing me into very low 13's and putting me around 320 rwhp for a 99... or so I should hope at least. I won't miss a shift, the rear 1/4 panels won't buckle, and it won't look like a 4x4 to boot I figure it's a good start

then i'll move on to long tubes, lca's, torque arm, rockers, heads/cam, nitrous??? Only time will tell

whats the pro 5.0 shifter do? and how much does it cost, i know very little about new cars. i just know i love the sound of loudmouth with a hot cam. and i just dont want my rearend to blow or stick a piston or something.

A Pro 5.0 Shifter is a shifter, duh, for the tranny. It makes the throws of the shifter shorter and quicker. It also makes the 2-3 shift easier. It's a very good mod to do. They generally cost $170-$190. Norcal has them for $169 right now, which is a very good price.
