Yeah but the Lid can be used with a SSRA. Then the lids air is coming from outside the car and with a little force at higher speeds. That not only makes up for the FIPK's something extra but surpasses it IMO. The dyno can't measure what gains the SSRA gives but the trap speed can.

The way I see it,

FIPK > LID

But,

Lid + SSRA = FIPK (in the city)

Lid + SSRA > FIPK (on the highway)

Since both setups cost about $300 I highly recommend anyone trying to decide between the two to look at pictures of both setups installed. Then pick the one you think LOOKS best because gains will be too close to call in most cases.

Here is a good one of a TSP smoked clear lid where you can see the filter through the lid.

And here is a good one of a regular black style slp lid. Just click on customer rides at the top of the page and the first car is a SS with a black slp lid.

I agree that the volant/fipk will be the option if you have a hood such as the ultra z hood. this is a "real" ram air setup if you think about it. since i do not have the funds for a hood and paint, and since i have a Z and not an SS i am going with the ssra and lid. i like the ssra due to the scoop that will help channel the air in

Wrong info here. MTI has made a clear lid for many years.

Well excuse me for not knowing TSP discontinued the smoked clear lid they USED to make.

Here is a link for you on the MTI lid.
