Pacesetters or Flowtech headers?

I did a search, but I didn't see too much info on the Flowtechs. Who sells them? I have seen the Pacesetters, coated, w/ y-pipe and 02 extensions on ebay for around $489. Which isn't a bad price. And I have heard they aren't that bad to install.

Any comments from anyone? Are they easier to install on a LS1, than an
LT1?

I want a set of headers that I don't have to loosen ANY motor mounts, ect. Can I reuse the factory gaskets? FYI, the factory gaskets on it now have about 3k miles on them.

Thanks for any replies!

i havent done the LT1 install but I hear the LS1 is much easier, like only ~4 hours labor once you have the car jacked up high enough or on a lift. I think its possible to not mess with the motor mounts, but it helps SO much to have the motor mounts out one header at a time. plus its a great opertunity to replace them and it'll probably be faster.

Gaskets are cheap. my metal gaskets were only like 13 dollars

Reuse the stock manifold gaskets and bolts.

Ummm...both mine and my friend's Pacesetters came with bolts and crappy gaskets. For less than $20, we bought some OEM replacement manifold gaskets and used the bolts that came with the kit. Don't re-use the gaskets that came on the car unless you like header leaks. Mine slid in nice and easy on my '02. I believe my friend had to saw off an small piece of excess material on his block in order to get his d/s header in easier. Other than making sure there's enough clearance under the car, it's relatively easy. Just take your time.

I've been running that stock gaskets and bolts and have yet to have any leaks. I know many people who reuse the stock gaskets w/no issues.

haha...the link is to MY website..i wrote those instructions after doing my Flowtechs.

there were no major problems with the install. i did take a little of the excess material off the block...more as a precautionary thing than anything. took all of 30sec with a handheld hacksaw. i bought the OEM replacement gaskets and reused the stock bolts. i just rechecked the tightness once or twice and never had a problem.

for a budget header the flowtechs really worked out well for me. the biggest thing i can say about them was the PERFECT fit of the Y-pipe. it was a one piece unit, which worried me, but it bolted up EXACTLY where it needed to be, with 1/2" clearances all around. and it had some indentations on the top to allow it to fit more snug with the frame, and increase ground clearance.

after 3yrs on the road, in south florida salty air, and a half dozen major hurricanes...the coating on the collectors is coming off, and there is surface rust. the primaries are still in perfect shape like the day i installed them. for the price i paid, i'll be happy to get 5yrs out of them...and i have no doubt that i will...and then some.
