ok I changed the cap on my radiator because it had some splits around the seal and that helped the over heating problem for a bit, but now its still overheating and i changed the thermastat and when i did the inside seal was completely gone except for about 10% of it. so i filled my car back up with water and let it run for a bit and the fans never cut on!!!! my car wasnt rising over 210 but was right on 200 after changing the thermastat.

when are the fans suppose to come on?

does any body know anything about adding water then Something called wet wetter if so does it work?

 

A little more info about the car would be nice. What gauge are you going by, the factory one? Did you try turning on your a/c to jump start the fans? Did you bleed all the air out of the cooling system? Try swapping the fan relays to see if that solves the fan issue.

 

ls6 manifold,ssra, 3" long tubes, ported TB. im going off of the factory gauge.

 

Stock fan temps are set pretty high, I'm guessing temp is higher than you normally see on the stock gauge. Check the coolant level in the radiator with the car cold. If it's low fill it to the top with coolant, start the car with the heater on high and let it run until the thermostat opens, keep adding until bubbles stop and won't take anymore. You're filling it with coolant and not "water" right? Assuming your car is a 99-02 just under 210 is normal reading for the stock gauge. SSRA will make it run a little warmer too stopped at lights, I have FTRA and does the same thing since they block a portion of the radiator.

 

Don't mess with the water wetter, you've got some other problem.

How do you know it's overheating? Steam, puking coolant, gauge pegging 260*???

Water or coolant it doesn't matter, "anti-freeze" does just exactly as the name sounds. Keeps it from freezing, has nothing to do with boiling point. If the caps fubar'd maybe the system is not building pressure and boiling at 212*???

 

I replaced the thermastat and that fixed the problem.... i filled it with water and drove it for the last couple of days and no overheating
