I have a problem with my heat shield that goes over the axle. It seems that near one screw, the metal around the screw broke and now the whole is bigger than the screw. I was able to pick up another heat shield from a salvage yard for not much $$. If this one breaks too, do you think that I really need the heat shield. My current catback is a pos flowmaster that the previous owner installed. I will be removing that soon for a custom exhaust that will try to resemble the gmmg setup. Instead of steel, it will be galvanized aluminum, except I am trying to find some nice stainless tips... but that is another problem for another day. What I really want to know is that will removing that heat shield cause alot of problems with heating the metal above/around the axle?
