Question Oil Pressure Question LS1

Hey Guys,

i have a question. Sorry for mistakes in my lenguage, im german camaro maniac.

I drive now since 7 years a camaro z28 and all the time i have a oil pressure of 280kba on idle and on power up to 3/4 of the scale (the middle between 280 and 550kba).

Now, since 6 Months the Oil Pressure will be on idle between 1/4 of the scale and 280kba and on power a little bit over 280kba. Thats 1/8 lower.

I dont undestand this problem. When the engine is cold, the oil pressure will be a little bit higher, sure, but what for values you people have with your LS1?

I go every year to oil change and use Opel 5W30 Oil. I use the stock oil filter but i read, that the Mobil M1-206 ist better. Any opinions about that?
My car is make 1999 and runs 70.000 km.

Thanks and greetings from germany in the heart of saxony dresden

Re: Oil Pressure Question LS1

If your oil pressure has been steady for years then all of a sudden it's different. I'd suspect the oil pressure sending unit. It's threaded into the motor block behind the intake manifold near the right side head.

OK, you guys think thats the oil pressure sensor.
When the engine runs in idle, the gauge will be shake a little bit.

I will take a look in the blueprints, maybe i find a option to replaye that thing.

What for oil pressure values you have?
Anyone knows the oil filter Mobil M1-206? AC Delco i cant get in germany.

THX

Re: Oil Pressure Question LS1

OK, i will ask the service-point if they have that oil.
Otherwise we have OPEL 0W30, its also full synthetic or ARAL Oil.

More interesting is the filter. We dont have AC Delco, i will check if i can get the mobil 1 Filter. I hope anyone test that thing on LS1.

And back to my primary question, what for oil pressures you have?

And here a pic. Its 2 weeks ago on us-car meeting.

I don't know if your oil pressure gauge reads the same as mine, but mine reads from 0-80 PSI,it idles at 40 PSI,about the 1/2 way mark on the gauge,& it moves up to 60 PSI when I accelerate.Hope this helps.I don't think it matters too much which brand oil filter you use as long as it's a good quality filter,I use K & N oil filters, before that I used Fram.By the way, nice car !

Re: Oil Pressure Question LS1

OK, i germany on the half are written 280kpa and full 550kpa. So your 40 = my 280.
Thats the same with my Camaro. Every time i have 40 and on power 60 and now i have 30 and on power 45 till 50. On idle the gauge shakes a little bit.
I think its the sensor!? I will try to fix that, but your value helps me. THX
