Oil Pressure problems, I got the solution

Oil Pressure problems, I got the solution
I have seen many posts discuss oil pressure problems as far as the readings being off and dropping low. Also the gauge going up and sticking there.
Well I found out a solution, hopefully all us ARE RUNNING A FULL SYNTHETIC
We need to use a K&N oil filter
I had really low pressure when I bought the car and the reading would go up to about 50 and stick there, my buddy told me to use a k&n or royal purple oil filter and this fixed the problem I get 40 at idle and 60+ when my foot is in it.
hope this helps you guys

What was your oil pressure before? K&N is ok, Mobil1, AC delco, Napa gold are cheaper and better. Also, a sticking oil pressure gauge is either a sending unit problem or the actual gauge itself.

Re: Oil Pressure problems, I got the solution
when I first got the car the oil pressure would drop down really low to around 20 and under it gave me a scare so I changed it.
It was horrible coming out and low so maybe the guy didn't care for her good before me and could be just a coincidence and that my oil pressure got a ton better
(from 40 to 60+).
But If your running synthetic than you do need a synthetic filter doesn't need to be k&n was just a suggestion.

How many miles on your car? If the oil came out looking horrible and it was low, and you had low oil pressure, I would be kind of worried that the guy before me didn't change the oil much.

Im not trying to sell anything. I was jus suprissed a oil filter made a big difference
Also yes I was concerned about the previous owner but we only had it for a month (was only 16 and his dad said he couldnt have it), so I got in contact with the one before and explained he cared for it good

Re: Oil Pressure problems, I got the solution
If the previous owner was runner a regular oil and I put a full synthetic then YES the oil pressure would go up. That is probably what was going on, maybe had nothing to do with a different filter. Anyways thanks for the feedback

Re: Oil Pressure problems, I got the solution
I've always used Mobil 1- mostly because as a synthetic it's not really that expensive if you get it in the 5 qt containers at walmart.
I refuse to buy an overpriced K&N filter; have always used Purolator or Delco w/ zero problems.
Most of the time changing the oil is far more important than the particular brand. All of the lubrication repairs I've done at work have been because people just don't maintain their cars. Doesn't matter what oil you're using if your oil pickup is clogged with carbon.
