Oil pressure drop at high rpm?
Oil pressure drop at high rpm?
Hi all, i have been haveing issues with my oil pressure. When i wind the car up to about 3k the pressure drops very low, at some points the "check guage" light will illuminate and then the needle will kick back up to normal. I think i have a leak somewhere but not sure, i run mobil 1 synthetic btw the car has 67k on it
I was told that it could be a possible intake leak, or that the oil screne was clogged. Or is this normal on a ls-1 car, i mean i would assume that under load the vaccume system would be come a little weaker, like driveing with your AC on. I have since added that stop leak additive to the oil and it doesnt drop down to warning levels anymore but it will still dip down. So my question is, is it time to do that ls6 intake swap...(would wrather do that then just pay someone to take off the manifold and put on a new seal) or is it normal for oil pressure to dip

Does the pressure rise up and then fall? If so, your pump might be pumping all the oil to the top of the engine faster than it can drain back down to the pan. I'm just guessing though. That behavior is definitly not typical of ls1's. Mine pressure shoots right up to a health 60-70 under full load.
It was a quart shy, so i added an extra quart and the stop leake additative. Since i added the quart it has been around 60 or so, with regual driveing, but when i stomp on it, it will dip all the way to like 20 or so or even into the red.
