I use 5-30 here in houston.. its hot here alot.. prefer the slicker stuff..

I found that the time the sensor takes increases with each change.. Was at over 9K miles before it told me to change oil.. thats pretty kewl..

I am at 38K miles now and have had the car since new..

Actually that could be true. Since 5w30 is thinner at start up it could go through some of the cracks that 10 weight would beable to squeeze through. Thats why I said use 5w30 unless you have an oil leak of some sort.

either will be fine in cali. just a matter of personal preference.

for what it's worth, i lived in norcal for the first 4 years after buying my car. i used 5w30 at first, then switched to 10w30. both will be ok in norcal weather.

I would use either the GERMAN made 0w30 CASTROL full syn or 5w30 REDLINE. Also...you will need an oil filter wrench to loosen the existing oil filter. Get yourself a K&N oil filter they have a built in nut if you will welded into the canister to EASY tightening and removing with a socket and ratchet. My oil pressure did increase with the REDLINE oil and K&N oil filter.
