oil cap

I found my oil cap left off (in the engine bay by the battery) after an oil change. car had been driven less then 45 miles & 1 day later (GARAGE KEPT) till I found this and put the cap on tightly,,,,,what would be the worst damage if any from this. Yes, I am a dumbass considering this is the very reason I change my own oil/filter myself AND I do something this stupid.

I guess the worst thing that could happen is that something could fall down into your motor and trash it.

However, in your case, I think the worst thing that happened is that oil splattered onto your hood and other under-hood components.

Check your oil level and clean up the splatter.

If you're really concerned about it, do another oil change. (but I wouldn't go to that extreme)

Boy, the worst that coulda happened...

probably posting it on a message board & having thousands of people giggle at yer simple mistake and the resulting worry

Dont sweat it.. we've all done something like that... clean it up.. forget about it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Like what was said..clean up any splatter and continue to enjoy your baby.
