Question off road y-pipe q's

would an off road y-pipe make any more HP over the stock y ?
would it make the car sound any better ? i was looking at the SLP
y pipe and some O2 sims. would i need anything other then that?

Well...the gains of going with the SLP y-pipe are minimal mainly because it doesn't eliminate the cats. It only eliminates the pinch in the stock pipe behind the drivers side cat. You'll have to either have someone fabricate some pipes to go where the cats are or buy some from someone like www.thunderracing.com . I had the SLP y-pipe and decided that headers was too much (for now)...so I got the !cat pipes. I love it! Nice and loud. I did loose a little torque down low, but I gained hp up top. The day after I got it put together, I took it out and broke the tires loose @ WOT in 2nd when the tach hit 4800~5000. It didn't used to do that, so I'm sure it's a result of the new install. I got a video of the exhaust if you're curious about the sound. Here's some links...you just have to excuse my little brother's award winning camera work.

!cats + SLP y-pipe + Borla (open)

Wow i dint know that the slp y didnt replace the cats. so what i would need is something like the bassani y-pipe. what im realy looking for is a little bit meaner sounding set up. something like your setup, thats the sound im looking for. do you think that if i loose the cats i will get that sound? or would the corsa cat back keep it from getting any louder?

Yes...losing the cats will definately make it louder/meaner. It won't quite be as loud as mine considering the Borla design allows the exhaust to exit the passenger side tailpipe without going through the muffler. But, you will notice a difference. I'm sure it'll sound SSweet with the Corsa. If you want the sound of headers without spending the $1000 to buy 'em, it's not a bad way to go. Just a tip though...make sure you use a liberal amount of WD40 on the manifold studs when unbolting the cats. You don't wanna snap one of them puppies when you take the cats off cuz it'll be hell getting it out. Trust me...I know.
