Question Is this normal?

Well 4 months ago I bought a 2001 TA 6spd. with 7000 miles on it. I absolutly love it but have a concern. when you get it in first and give 70%+ throttle it feels like the clutch is slipping, i might just be loosing traction since i always turn TC off, i don't know but it also feels like this on steep hills too and it's done it ever since i've owned it so now that i have 11,500 miles on the car it's about time i start investigating this. I'm going to drive with the TC on and see if it still does it. I'm pretty easy on the car, i've never hit limiter and i'm always easy on the clutch. thanks

Does it do this in any other gear, or is it just in first? If the tires are spinning, the MPH should be increasing with engine RPM.

nope, just in first it will feel jerky but i don't hear any tires. i really think there is a problem because sometimes on a steep hill the engine will rev but you won't go far. Is there some kind of overload protection in the drivetrain that would cause this? it's not a major problem but i don't want to have to spend $500 to replace a clutch in a few months.

Don't rule out an engine problem. My car started out feeling like first was slipping and then second. It was a problem with spark plug wire five. You don't feel it at higher rpms but in the low end there is a slight miss and it makes the car feel like the clutch is about to fall out of the car.

get it checked

Take it in A.S.A.P. the closer your car is to 12,000 miles the better your chances of geting a clutch problem fixed under warranty. Many dealers consider clutch failure "a normal wear item" (generaly not covered under warranty) If you take it to the dealer and any $ is discussed leave go to a diffrent dealer.
