no start problem

Anyone know whats wrong? I backed the car out of the garage to wash it. I had the ignition on accesory to listen to the radio and now it wont start. Its not the battery or anything - I checked it and jumped it to be sure. I checked and retried all security and other bs and still nothing. Im gonna have to have it towed to the dealer if i cant figure it out. Its a 2000 M6 Camaro SS. Its not the starter either, it doesnt click and the car only has 30k on it.

Re: no start problem

disconnect the battery and check and make sure the terminals are clean. if the battery is good like you say then it might be the terminals. that happened to me once. the car wouldnt take a jump or even let me turn on the accessories. sometimes the positive terminal gets real dirty and grimmy from battery acid and you dont get a solid connection. autozone or advanced sells battery terminal cleaner and a little wire brush for like 3 bucks so its worth it to keep in your car in case a stupid little problem like this arises. i hope thats the problem and it works out for ya man.

Re: no start problem

What kind of noises is it making? Is it trying to start? Or are you getting nothing?

Try switching one of your fan relays with the "IGN" relay under your hood. They're the same part # and sometimes the IGN relay switch goes bad.

No noises - its as if something isnt letting me start it. i tried the relay trick but no luck.

My battery and terminals are fine. I checked them and you could eat off them - the stuff is all garage kept and close to new.

Sounds like a blown fuse, did you check all of them?

Re: no start problem

Are you sure it's not the starter. Sounds like the same exact thing that happen to me when my starter went out. Try lightly tapping the starter with a hammer then try to start it again. If it starts then you need a new starter.

Re: no start problem

Would click if the solenoid was good and starter bad. If solenoid is bad, will not click...

Yeah, The solenoid doesnt click. Its something from the key up to that solenoid im guessing. I double checked all fuses and switched the soleniods. Thanks for the help so far.

Re: no start problem

There is a switch on your clutch pedal that is like a neutral safety switch, you might want to check this before buying a bunch of parts you don't need.I have had this happen to me before and that was the problem, just my 2 cents worth. Hope this helps.

Yeah me too. My problem is that they are programming the keys to match the new ignition cylinder- ecu. A 1988 f-150 ignition cylinder is like $30 and im getting hosed for 551.00. The biggest shame is that a 30k mile garaged car shouldnt have a bad ignition cylinder.

I'm with ya man. I guess you'll have to eat it, but try and exhaust any and all other options so the rotten dealership doesn't get a dime.
