No sound deading material = hotter inside temps? My Car is hot as hell inside!
I bought my '98 Z from a repo dealer, and doing so there were a lot of unknowns with my car.
One of which I have just figured out is that the previous owner took out the material under the carpet, the sound deading material.
My car gets really hot inside on the outside. Its hard to explain, but on the outside if you are standing next to the car on either door, you can feel the heat rushing up at you. Its about 10-15 degrees hotter than if you were to take a step back. Its very noticeable.
Inside you can feel the heat mostly in the front seats. Not as hot as the outside, but still much warmer than it should be.
I have also noticed that if I select "cool" for the vents, it just blows out hot air, not like the outside air, but much hotter. Its almost like the heater is on.
Going back to the prev. owner, he also decided to remove the A/C., so I have no way to cool the inside of the car - only to roll down the windows and drive faster.
I made a quick stop in an auto carwashing/touch free place - and I almost died. I had to sit in the car with the windows rolled out while it was getting washed. It was about 100* heat index outside, but almost 120* in the car. I have never sweated so much in my life. I didn't have any vent on, or the fans on, it was just the heat of the car.
I have changed the thermostat to 180* and I watch the temp gauge alot - it doesn't move much, as in terms over heating.
I hate trying to put someone else half *** project car back together, it makes me sick to know that I have to spend $X more dollars to get the car back to "stock".
I just want to have a normal car. I've already spent $1,200 in the suspension alone fixing this persons f*ck ups. The car handles much better now...but it could have been used for other things (head/cams).
.........yes, its a hot car, and yes I'm venting....... sorry. I would like any opinions on this "hot" issue, as I am stumped.
Thank you for reading.

Take a run to your local Pep-Boys and grab a roll of the sound deadening / heat mat they have (usually its in the same isle as the floor mats). It looks like tin foil on one side and green cotton candy on the other.. it works GREAT I put it in an S-10 with a V8 and the cab stays at LEAST 30degrees cooler than it did before!!

What all did he remove in reference to the A/C? Just the compressor and a different belt? Being I'm in Florida, I would reinstall the A/C components.</font>
