At any point did I debase your question to this company? No. I pointed out that you trying to compare workmanship of a TH-400 to a 4L60E was dumb. My input was far from "BS". It was a valid point. If your tranny choices are a Built TH-400 or a 4L60E you should have worded your question that way. Instead you posted a "look what he can do". Again I posted NOTHING against your question.

My posting choices are not in your control. Learn to take critisizm. Some people get upset way too easily . Uhoh that was another eye roll .

Guys, come on. Its a freakin message board. Relax. If you are worried about that much power, I doubt you're gonna be driving it on the street. So take it to the advanced tech section.

I looked those trannies over, and next summer, when I'm making more power I'm gonna get a Level 2 one. Looks good to me.

4L60 or A4

I have a question about strength of the A4. I have in the past tried many of times to make the 700 R4 work with no success. What makes this trans so much better? And also what about the 4L80 is no one using this monster? I thought that this trans was basicly a TH400 with Overdrive. I would like to get back to having overdrive on my 3rd Gen. The engine I am using is a 406 SBC with about 500 HP.

the 4L80E is a big heavy power robbing turd with a lack of a good first gear ratio. great for a monster power set up, but other than that a waste.

Yes but can't you change the gears in it. My TH400 is currently running 2.75 and 1.57. And if you consider that you have the overdrive you could still run a big rear Gear.
