new LS1 owner

i finally have an LS1. i found a 99 pewter colored TA about 3hrs away from me that i bought on saturday and drove home. i must say its a damn good car. after driving it home and driving it today, i like it a lot. i love the LS1 engine, the sound, power, and looks/style. this car is sweet, and i think that i will have a lot of fun with it.

welcome to the board!

yeah the LSx motors are some strong mothers

so when ya gonna give in to the mod bug?

give it time to get used to the car and you are gonna be visiting this board more often

I know it only took a week for me to start ordering up stuff (BTW when is my stuff gettin here..?)

hit me up if you need some pointers...

oh yeah, if you notice some tapping coming from the motor when is warming up its probably piston slap (common on the LSx motors)

Thats usually the first thing people complain about.

Not a big problem, just let it warm up a little when you first start it. My 2001 GMC 5.3L had it, as well as my current car (see sig)
Just something you have to deal with on these motors.

Peace,

Chris

Hows that SLP LM and Dynomax Bullet sound?

Man I would kill for a sound clip of that

I always wanted to know what that sounds like

Welcome to the boards Both this site and LS1tech.com offer some great advice for the LS1's.... I don't believe there's a question you can't find an answer to between the two

IMO, it sounds amazing....its a LITTLE raspy of course, but the bullet killed most of the rasp. the car is very quiet with a deep rumble at idle, and SCREAMS beyond belief at WOT....it is F**king LOUD!!!! i get nothing but compliments and people tell me how much better it sounds with the bullet than it did with the LM resonator....it's not for everyone cuz its pretty insane loud when u want it to be, but it definitely gives the car one hell of an angry tone to it....
