The New Guy
Welcome!
Lid, maf, TB, LS6 intake, AFR heads, lunati cam, long tubes, y-pipe, catback, gears, ATI procharger, 31 spline axles, slicks, and a nice dyno tune with a custom chip!
You should be able to keep up with lightly moded Mustang GT's at this point, and maybe some stock Cobras as long as they don't know how to drive.

...after 130 mph was a different story!
Re: The New Guy
Congrats on the car.
Spend a few months learning to drive the car first and then start your modifications.
A lid is a popular modification that's around $100. Don't buy an aftermarket mass air flow (MAF), they're pracatically useless, my friend used to have one.

Re: The New Guy
damnit grnz ya beat me to it
is the car a stick or auto?
a good short stick will be a cost effective upgrade that will make you a better shifter. if interested i have one for sale...check out my webpage in the sig.
lid, ram air, and a good catback will do wonders for the car

ROFLMAO!
My god, people....
I figured that my reply was ridiculous enough to assume that I was just messing around but I guess it wasen't
Maybe I should have thrown in a 1000 HP shot of NOS LOLTo clarify for those that need it:
An LS1 with that fantasy setup I posted would probably make enough horse power to fly to the freakin moon and back so obiously you could eat mustangs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Hell you could probably beat one in reverse with that setup giving you could hook up!
LOL
Re: The New Guy

Re: The New Guy
First 3 mods should be a lid, cutout, and subframe connectors.
You should see that there is varying information in this post alone, but I guarantee you that 1) a lid is a cheap and effective mod 2) a cutout is cheaper/better results than a $300+ catback 3) SFC's are a great all-around suspension mod that will not only keep you tight, but it will even help you hook up. Just make sure to get weld ins.
I think I went through the motions with my car very well. First, I did a lid and SFC's, and got me a set of DR's (I'm an auto) After that, I spent $70 on a cutout (includes installation). The shop I was at had a set of Spohn LCA's laying around, and they slapped them on for $100. Oh, can't forget about the free mods that I did RIGHT AWAY. I recommend all (free ram air, !EGR tube, TB bypass, TB throttle stop) except the descreening the MAF. It's only good in a case where you might be running rich, because all it does is lean out your fuel mixture. At this point I was running high 12s with VERY little money into my car (about $500)
After this point is where your course might deviate from others. Since I'm an auto, the stall came next, and it was EASILY the best mod so far. Right now I've got all the other mods on the way (headers, gears, pulley, LSX intake) So we'll see how that goes.
Another great thing you can do that's essentially free, is weight reduction. I'm not too far into this, although I'm about to hit it hard. You can always take out your back seats/seat belts (75% of F-body guys do), take out your spare tire/jack (pray you don't get a flat), some people take out front and rear bumper supports (sounds like they're a little too important to take out), I know of a few guys that have taken out their AC system, and you can also take out your carpet/sound deadoning material, then put lightweight carpet back in.
All in all, if you follow this guide, you will be very set (if you're an auto). If you've got a manual, you should definately make a shifter one of your first mods, and make sure to stay away form Drag Radials (unless you have the $$$ for a new rear)
Good luck!
