Re: NEW engine?

Yes, its possible, but it would be expensive and wouldn't be anywhere near easy. Anything is possible if you have enough money. There are better options than an LS7, but it would be cool though.

Re: NEW engine?

That's a crap load of cash to drop into that car. What are you trying to do with it? The LS1 can rip your head off with the right work and still be cheaper than what you're proposing to do cause i'm guessing you're not gonna do the swap yourself.

YEAH....only about 50 options

any of the vendors offer new motors.

from near stock 347 ci engines, 370ci truck blocs, 383, 396, 408, 427ci strokers, 402ci LS2 engines.

power output will depend on what you build the motor with, namely the cam and head choice.

since you don't know much...how bout you give us some details and actual goals....something more specific than faster.

Re: NEW engine?

with some of the options teke noted, the aluminum blocks are typically $400 more than the iron blocks 402 vs 408 for example. but the iron blocks weigh an extra 90lbs

Re: NEW engine?

Assembled Forged 402 LS2 shortblocks are going for around $4500 right now. Much cheaper than an LS7.

Re: NEW engine?

Thanks guys, i'm actually spending no maximum amount of money, and i want top of the line horse power to its finest for my baby. what i'm looking for Teke, is horsepower gain and performance. My friend told me a graet start would be an intake system, cams, loudmouth mufflers. But brand names is what im looking for and maximum power too.

Re: NEW engine?

that's still pretty vague....there are some many choices and options and roads to take in a project like you describe...

just read around the board and start learning all you can.

and for future referance...

the Fbody is a pushrod V8....so it only has one cam

and in it's factory form, and most aftermarket exhausts...you only have a single pipe running the length of the car, into one muffler. the loudmouth exhaust you mention only has one muffler.

i guess if you want some decent suggestions, i'll throw some out.

SSRA
lid (any lid)
FAST lsx 90/90
AFR heads
futral FM14 cam
ported ls6 oil pump
Kooks longtubes
true duals
moser 12bolt rear
dyno tune

should put you around 450rwhp

if it's an auto you'll need a transmission rebuild to hold the power, as well as a good 3500+ stall converter

if its a manual, you'll need want a mcloed street twin clutch, pro5.0 shifter

for suspension you'll need:
subframe connectors
lower control arms
torque arm

Well gee, if you're looking for name brand with unlimited budget you can start at Lingenfelter with some $30,000 packages and go up from there.

Re: NEW engine?

LS6 swaps are good if you want to stay slow.

450rwhp exhaust/pulley Cobras will have a field day with stock 405hp LS6 motors in heavy F-bodies.

Anything with bolt-ons will have a field day. I'm talking stock to stock heads up race or even a roll. LS6 owned Cobras with vette bodies and f-bodies.
