New Dyno with H/C's

Finally got some numbers.

353.6 RWHP - 514.0 RWTQ - H/C's
450.9 RWHP - 745.0 RWTQ - N20 (Pig Rich 11.6)

Remember these are on a Mustang Dyno.
Anyone know how much more on a DynoJet?
I will find out this weekend.

Thanks for your help Jason.

I was able to keep my tranny in 3rd. So most of the torque was down low. Plus the converter help alot.

Well, no where in your signature or information is anything said about what transmission you have. I think that's essential information. Although this info. can be inferred in this thread by your hellacious torque #s, many people won't figure it out. How about adding it to your sig.?

You didn't lock the converter, did you?

That's good RWHP on a Mustang Dyno...that's a mild cam you have, so I would look for about 380 rwhp on a dynojet.

Sorry about the sig. I had it in there. But the Admins trimmed it down.

Nope didn't lock it, but held the tranny in 3rd so it did not down-shift.

354rwhp with heads & cam?! No offense but that's terrible. With just the TR 224 cam you should be near 380rwhp alone, maybe 370 with an automatic. But add heads & wow that's low. Plus I've never seen tq that high on a heads/cam car. Usually the numbers would be 430rwhp & 400rwtq. I'm at a loss, something is wrong.

I think the difference is the tranny didn't down-shift. So I was able to get a reading lower in the RPM range like you would with a M6. The 745 was @ 2420 RPM's. @ 3000 they were at 657. Where should I read the TQ?

Mustang Dynos I understand are 15% lower than DynoJets

So using 10% I would be @
389 RWHP
496 RWHP

I didn't want to but I needed some hourly dyno time. They only charged $80/hr

I will have the car on a Dyno Jet this Sat. Then I will have some better numbers.

And it could still use a little more trimming

What's going to be better about them?
Bigger? You aren't going to be making more power just because the numbers are bigger.
Take it to the track and impress us with some real numbers

They will be more inline with what everyone is used to. Seeing how Mustangs Dyno numbers are lower.

I did gain 3 mph in the 1/8

the reason your TQ number is so high is because your converter was not locked. therefore, the TQ was a huge flash at the beginning of your pull and not a real number. if you have the ability to lock the converter, you will get real TQ numbers. you're kidding yourself if you think you make over 500 lbs of torque with a h/c 346 LS1. depending on cam specs, you'll make peak TQ between 4000 and 5000 RPM's. making the pull in the 3rd gear is fine and dandy, but you have to have the converter locked.

the mustang dyno is the reason for the low HP reading. i agree you'll make about 380 on the dynojet. but i missed your cam specs and the rest of your combo.

good luck on the dynojet and tell us how you make out.

[edit]
just saw you have absolute 5.3 heads and TR 224 cam. very nice combo. should be good for 400 hp at the wheels in an a4 with a good tune, but if you are making it rich and lowering timing for the juice, that will explain the lower hp numbers. nice car

I know that the TC is skewing the TQ numbers. And the engine is obviously not putting out that much torque. But it sure shows how a TC makes torque. No wonder I have no traction..

I am actually running timing @ 29. Didn't richen it up at all for the bottle. I am already way too rich for that.

If they let me do a few extra runs tomorrow, I will see if I can lock the TC.
