Post new to board

I just purchased my 1st Z28 about two weeks ago. I am very pleased with it.
I do have one question, what are some of the cheapest mods to do, and get some good HP gains from them?

Thanks,

First off, welcome aboard.
As far as mods, check out my list below. The best thing to start off with is air. Increase the amount of air into and out of the car, as well as replacing anything that restricts the airflow in any way.
Mods that coincide with this are things like:
-replacing the air lid with a high flow lid and removing air silencer
-replacing stock air filter
-replacing airflow sensor
-free air mod that consists of cutting the plastic underneath the air filter
-high flow catback exhaust (many too choose from) or go the way I did, true duals.
All these mods are explained in further detail with pictures showing you where everything is located at www.installuniversity.com
After simple mods like those, you may want to consider gears, performance module, headers, the list goes on and on.
Good luck

I just got mine as well.. Been just under 4 weeks for me..

If you stick around and visit daily you will learn alot. I personally, am not a follower. I buy products I want after I have sufficient proof that it will benefit me.

I dont run out buying things that everyone else has just cause. I suggest you do the same. The reasoning is that you dont want to waste $ on parts and you dont want to sound like you dont know what they are when people ask you.

I have already done my research on lids.. I found that SLP lids are manufactured inconsistantly.. I was going to go with the MTI clear lid but found that it will crack since it is made of a harder non forgiving plastic. As pretty as it is, I think its for the best. I am going with a Whisper Carbon Fiber look and a Holley Powershot Air Filter.. The Holley is only because it actually fits our cars whereas the K&N needs a foam spacer.

As for the sensors, the mass air unit will do for me for a while.. at least until I plan on another couple of dyno days. It takes your car some time to "learn" so its not good to just swap out sensor parts as the computer isnt fully set.

I will also be getting an SLP or a FastToys ram air "if" I dont fab one up myself.. THe SLP unit seals up and is "pressurized" as they say.

From there I would be looking at my shifter. Only because I think I will like the Pro 5.0 over the others. Mine has the factory Hurst short throw.. It is not impressive but I havent missed a gear with it. For stick shifts, I would look into ones that fit you. I have tried the Hurst aftermarket short throw and I dislike the bend in the handle.

Ok.. thats my spiel(sp?).. Welcome to the board.. refer others.. And remember there is no such thing as a bad question! Ask anything that you are wondering about as odds are that someone else will wonder the same..
