need suggestions

I am looking to order a few things for my 2001 TA M6 since I got a nice fat bonus coming friday. I already have an SLP Lid and I am going to order a Magnaflow Catback. I'm looking at a new shifter and maybe a bigger throttle body. I need suggestions and places to look for the lowest prices. If the throttle body is a waste let me know why and other mods to consider below $400 and no I'm not interested in headers. I'm looking for an upgrade in power. Also is a computer tuner by Predator worth a look, remember my car is an m6. I would consider a chasis or suspension mod if it would help the car hook better, but for right now i'm interested in building power. I love modding this car

Throttle body is not a waste. I heard 7-10 RWHP can be gained from a Baur throttle body over the stock one.

Other ideas for you would be:

ARA ram air kit. $200 and worth every penny IMO.

ASP underdrive pulley. Heard it's good for 7 RWHP and costs about $220 I think.

Pair of Nitto 555R Drag Radials. This will give you better traction so you can get more of the power you got to the ground.

4.10 gears. They run about $200 I think but you have to correct speedo so it may be a bit pricey if you don't have a friend with LS1-edit. You can use predator but that'll run you another $400.

You could get the gears and then pay a performance shop like speed inc to do a tune and speedo adjustment for around $200. Of all my suggestions the Gears would give you the most SOTP gains but are also the most expensive to buy and complicated to install.

Good Luck

P.S. I like LM Performance for most parts. They give decent prices but the service is excellent and they ship fast.

Great Reply! Gears might be a lil too much for me right now but tires, tb, and the pulley sound great. As far as the tires go, does Nitto make a streetable/drag tire for everyday use? What size would you recommend? I have the stock 16x8 chrome rims. Thanks again

im confused. im gonna give you the benift of the doubt and say you live in a state with emissions.. because headers and a new ORY-pipe would make better power for the $$ than any of these other $250-300 mods combined ( like a throttle body etc ) i guess it doesnt matter what sequence you mod them in.. just dont leave them out and it would be even better with your new magnaflow caback

as stated above:

id also get the ARA (formerly SSRA. im getting mine next month) and as for a shifter im getting my Pro5.0 + lou's short stick this wed. ill let ya know how that goes gl.

/tek.

The only reason why i'm opposed to headers is because i had them on my last car (96 Z) and had nothing but problems with leaks, etc. It was a pain in the **** What is the best shifter and the cheapest? I've heard of the Lou's short stick but where to get it? The catback, tb, and pulley are almost a done deal. Still researching tires, looking at the Nitto's and Yokohoma's and BFG's. I'm excited about all these mods, this car was crazy fast stock

They are the best street/strip tire you can get. They handle rain well for the first 5000 miles but after that they get iffy. They are not good for snow but then again neither are LS1's in general. They can last 10,000 miles or so which is good for DR's but only the first half would feel ok in rain. After that there is a high chance of hydroplane so you'dd wanna avoid any speeds over 45 if possible when it's raining.

As far as size goes I'm not sure. I would just get the same size you have now I guess. If you see a lot of rain and this is a daily driver then you may wanna consider running DR's in the summer and fall and street tires in the winter and spring. If you live in nicer weather areas then you can run DR all year round.

Good Luck

I need tires that will last longer than that and i can use on the street regardless of weather. What are some other options as far as good tires that have a longer life span than nitto's

I would just stick with street tires then. BFG KDW's's are decent street tires. You can't have both unfortunately. The tires are a give and take deal. If you want traction you have to give up longevity and all weather ability. If you want longevity and all weather ability you have to give up traction on launches lower speed punches.

As long as your never get into big power adders like heads, cams, N20, LT headers with 4.10 gears then you'll be just fine on street tires other then the lack of gripping power on a hard launch.

Good Luck
