Need new engine

Blew a couple of rods or something.....need to decide what I'm doing by tomorrow. Would a LS6 engine fit into my 98 Z28? Would it be worth it or would it be better to just get a LS1 souped up? Anyone know how much we are talking? Anyone have any websites I can go to check on engines, prices, etc.?

LS6 should fit, I believe it's essentially, as far as dimensions and things, about the same as an LS1. Whether it will be worth it or not, well, that's for you to decide. Not sure how much it would run you, are you thinking of getting a used engine or a new one? New engine prices will be easier to find, because prices fluctuate on engines pulled from wrecks, but new engine prices aren't pretty so be forewarned. I would think that you might come out a little cheaper to get a used ls1 and build it up a bit, or get a used one, drop it in your car, then rebuild the one you have depending on what's wrong with it. That way you could keep your car running, and build the engine up as time and money passed. Used LS1's will be MUCH easier to find then the more or less Z06 specific LS6.

Not interested in used or fixing up. I'm not a fixing up kinda guy so labor rates would kill me. I'm lookin for the baddest engine out there. Mostly lookin at horespower. I'm thinking I probably will have to do something to my rear end so I'm not spinning them at every intersection. So if you had to choose between a new ls6 or a new ls1 what would you choose? I'm thinking $5k.
