Post NEED HELP!!! Got the McLeod in and the adjustable master cylinder....

So I had the clutch installed today and I just got done putting in the adjustable master cylinder. I've bench bled it, hooked it into the transmission and bled that with the bleeder just above the connector until the new fluid started to flow through it. However, after doing everything I think I needed the pedal is firm only at the last 1" of the stroke towards the floor. Otherwise there is absolutely no pedal what so ever!

I've dialed the connecting rod end up and down the whole length of the thread with no change in the overall pedal feel. What the hell am I missing here?

you've got air in the hydrolics somewhere. ive seen regular bleeding hit and miss, most of the time its a miss. when reverse bleeding ive never bleed a master more than once.

question, who bleed the slave cylinder?

help hints, make sure you have good clean brake fluid, master and slave working properly.

reverse bleed if possible

When you mention reverse bleed your talking about forcing fluid up the quick connect instead? That's what I'm about to do, sort of.

Sounds like air. Can you tell me what tool you used to get the hose off of the original master cylinder. I know the book calls it a quick connect tool, but can you tell me where you bought yours and the part number/brand? Thanks.
Does the McLeod Master Cyl come with that tool?
By the way, per McLeod, the McLeod LS1 Master Cylinder fits the '97 LT1's. It's on backorder and should be here at the end of the month.

I just used a punch to push the roll pin out of the old one. Then it slides right out. Put it into the other cylinder and push the roll pin back in.

I managed to bleed it upside down and used a piece of 5/8 clear PVC hose over the quick connect. That way you could get fluid into the tubing so that you don't suck air back in. It also allows you to bleed and visually see all the air come out.

My problem was actually an issue with the slave cylinder, I should have replaced that too. Ultimately we did replace it and all the issues went away.

Good luck.

Derty,
Thanks, I wondered if I could just do that.
That will save a little money. On my car, I installed the SPEC Stage 2 with the Kevlar disc. I can't quite get enough compression from the stock master cylinder to fully disengage the PP, so I'm going to try the McLeod to see if that will help.
Good luck with your install. I'll be doing mine soon, I hope.

The adjustable master will take care of that for you easily. The stock one has enough to barely move the throwout. The adjustable can be setup to push the throwout through the fingers (almost) if you're not careful! So far it's been several thousand miles and no issues.
