Thumbs up Need help with buying new tires

hey guys and gals, I am needing to buy new tires and was wondering which ones you would recommend. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I also want goo tires. I know I cannot afford Z rated tires, but how about V rated? I was looking at the yokahama V rated tires. Could you guys/gals please let me know what you think. Thanks

Wow, are those tires any good?

I was quoted at Kramer tire, for the same tires I currently have on my Camaro, for $1200 - and that was JUST THE RUBBER, not put on or anything

SLP Goodyear take off GSC's. $399 plus $60 in shipping. Less than $100 to install. That is less then $560 for 4 245/50ZR16 GSC's. www.slponline.com

I know you all probaly want brand name but I put Pep Boys Futura Ultra Zs on my car, this is the 3rd set I have had. They are z rated, made in the States(important to some of us) by Kelly Tire.
$636 installed with raod hazzard, cant say anything bad about them. I even hit a piece of metal a while back , they didn't even ask they just replaced the tire. You cant go wrong. That price is for the 17", the 16' were around $380 z rated, and the v rated were around $320. Check them out.

The Kumhos are junk IMO. They wear quickly, and dont provide great traction. For a little more $$ you can get a lot more tire. I happen to love my Bridgestone Potenza RE 730's ($126 a piece for 245 50 ZR 16 from tire rack) but there are a lot of other great tires in that price range. The kumhos are cheaper yes... but you know what they say about getting what you pay for.

I have heard very few people who will go back to the kumho's because they are a great tire, but a lot of people who go back because they are cheap.

Go to Les Schwab ... Ventus ... $120 per tire for the 275/40/17 ... should be even less for a 245/50/16 ... this is complete out the door tax, installation and balancing.

As far as quality ... I previously had the BFG KDW, the Ventus are a better tire for half the price.

Good Luck
