N/A vs. Forced Induction
I like to drive, I have a 2000 Camaro SS 6sp and its juts got an air lid and a 85mm MAF. Big whoop, anyway, lately with a couple of buddies getting fast cars, AKA Twin Turbo Supra, which was a steal, the dealer ship depreciated it or where dying to sell it because he picked it up for 13 grand and is heavily modded. So hevy though that exept for turbo lag when we get to 60 he's smokin, he's got to be doing low 11's. Only thing the damn thing is high maintenece. Sure its fast and nice but i'm not looking for that. I know its forced induction but I want to know other people's experience with cam's, headers, exhaust...really anything related to N/A. because I want pure engine power....
I have been looking at this for quite a good amount of time. I wanna see what people recommend. And as anyone knows when you do one upgrade you don't stop there. Putting headers on a car not only means putting headers but also making them fully utilized by the car by getting bigger Y pipe then better exhaust piping. I need help setting up a setup where everything workes fully.
I have a a buddy that got 2nd place in the championships at Rt66 here in Chicago last saturday in a high 12 Civic. He bought a $3000 civic and put a $5000 motor in it and its running low 12's. Kinda puts a good run for the money with that thing. ALL engine. And he has almost no maintaning to do. I know Camaro being a V8 is gonna have itsfair share....as all the super charger and turbo (if any) owners know you don't wanna have to take the spark plugs out ever time you run the car to amke sure its running right.
I need suggestions for Headers, Cam, Intake manifold, anyone have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Any any expereice with any manufacturer would be appreciated also. Thanks for any feedback

I have a N/a engine thats pretty cool...Cam heads, headers intake...the works...Its cool...sounds great..doesn't drive a whole lot different..till 3,000 then well move out of my way. Gas milage if I am easy on the car is normal...Nothing changed...Its louder has a nice lope and get tons of thumbs up...I have been in a supercharged fbody...They pull like no other... But then again I don't think my car is all that quick....Passengers think so...Going N/a was cheaper for me and I got more out of it then I would just slappin on a supercharger.... I did most of the car sus*****ion full exhaust engine...everything for less then the cost of just the supercharger kit...

First, the car was a steal cause it was modded.. Harder to sell a modded car... Since the car was probably abused as well..
Second, Look for raughhammer (something like that) posts.. He has a monster N/A.. He seems to know his stuff..

I definitely like N/A motors --- while I know a lot of thought has to go into supercharged & turbocharged engines, I think that to build a 12, 11 or 10 second N/A car is very impressive, since you're not relying on a S/C, T/C, or NOS to give you that extra boost that your internals (cam, etc...) couldn't. JMO
.
To figure out what you want to do, either get some more opinions from here, or talk to your local speed shop --- usually those guys can give you a good idea of what things like cams and headers will do for your car, and work with you within your budget to build the car that you want.
Personally?? One day (once my motor's got lots of miles and is out of warranty) I want to build an LS1 stroker (383/396) with a bigger cam, heads, and the works.
My "goal", which I know is very achievable, is a sub-12 second car. It's not happening any time soon, but one day.
Anyway, HTH.

LS1 resleeved and stroked to 422 ci and greater
There's this one guy that has one and his PRIMARY concern was reliablility and idle quality.. Pulled off 450 rwhp and 470 rwtq. Drives around like a stock car(unless he punches it) and he'll probably never have to worry about maintence.
They can build 500+ rwhp varieties if you want too.
Very expensive though.... But if you got the cash, go for it!
And since its all internal engine mods, your competition won't know by just looking at the engine... hehe..
