Ok about a month ago I got my slave cylinder replaced at a local shop because the clutch was sticking... Well when I got it back the clutch wasn't sticking anymore but I've noticed a few other problems... Under hard accleration there is a distinct grinding noise coming from behind me (you can feel it on the floorboard as well) also just this week I've noticed that if i am just cruising in a parking lot in 1st or 2nd like between 1,500 and 2,000 rpms, the car will jump forward and back (almost like I am punching it and letting go and then repeating that but i'm not) ... It is kind of wierd but I'm just trying to get a few ideas what might be wrong with my SS so I can have a talk with this guy about what he did. Normal driving and shifting everything else seems fine it's just them few problems i noted. Thanks a lot

 

Oh man, I've got to sympathize with you. I have the same problem with my '02SS, about 34K miles, 6spd. The bucking starts at about 1500 rpm, and if you don't catch it quick, it gets violent. The dealer denied I had a problem, and after two days in the shop decided that nothing was wrong. Of course, the morons went and flogged it on the freeway for 17 miles worth, which will not reveal the problem. I'm thinking of getting it fixed at a competent non-dealer shop and taking the dealer to small claims court. Still don't know what the problem is, though.

 

Grinding sounds like the rear end...possibly axle bearings. As far as the bucking goes, not sure...could be related to the rear end but would need to take her for a spin to be sure. How many miles on it? The stock 10s don't really hold up to much abuse. For about 2300-2700, you'll have an indestructible rear (Moser/Strange 12 bolt)

 

Its got about 72,000 on it... i'm sure a few of those before i got it at 57,000 are pretty hard miles too.... What do you suggest i do for the bucking?? i dont want it to leave me stranded one day since it's my daily driver

 

Pull off your diff cover and see if you broke a few teeth off.
