So Im driving along today and I have my windos down and im thinking, huh, it sounds louder than usual. I get out and look, and my month old flowmaster catback is completely gone, from the over-axle pipe back. EVerything is gone, muffler, tips and pipe. I looked all over where i drove today, and no sign of it. So now, unless i can miraculously find it somehow. SO now im out 3o6 bucks, and i cant drive my car till i get a new one on. So basically im pissed. i put this on myslef, but I did work at an auto hsop, and I know what im doing, it was installed correctly. So i dont know how two locknuts managed to loosen themseleves, and then an extremely tight fitting pipe managed to come undone, and then the whole tihng managed to slip out of two hangers. Has this happened to anyone else?

 

Muffler fairy?

How the muffler and pipes seperate and pop off the hangers without you hearing it is beyond me.

 

Heck someone probably stole it. You'd have to be unconsious to have it fall off while driving and not know it.

 

I can't see it "suddenly" falling off after 1 month!? I'd say it was probably stolen too (unfortunate as it is ). I just can't believe you didn't notice the sound difference instantly!?

 

Another for stolen. I would have thought it would drag for a short way before it fell off ocmpletely/ It probably would have rattled alot with 1 hanger off also.

 

I have to agree with the others, some one must have stole it, but how you couldn't tell, as soon as you started your car is beyond me, I can tell every weird sound that comes from my auto's, drives the wife crzy, cause sometims I can't hear her, but hear every little rattle or squeak in our cars, and if it fell off, you would have known that, unless you are deaf .

 

Yep another vote for stolen. I just took my American Thunder Flowmaster catback off and it fought me tooth and nail and I put it on just 4 months ago. I put it together loose so I could take it off later to no avail. You can have mine for 100.00 jist come get it.

 

yea, my stock muffler and i-pipe rusted out where they connected
trust me, it starts to get a little louder than normal, hmm...
then sparks start flying up from it while it's just dragging behind you on the ground
i also have a catback if you want it, it can be made to fit your ls1 car, just cut off part of the i-pipe
o yea, i vote for stolen too, but then again, i haven't heard of too many exhausts being stolen

I'm sure it would've dragged for a good distance before the pipe worked its way over the axle.... not to mention, the muffler and all most likely would've banged off the bottom/bumper of your car when it finally worked its way off.

You couldn't tell a difference in exhaust note when you started the car up? There's a night and day difference when I'm running through the Flowmaster v/s Open Cutout.

 

Just clamp a bullet or twister muffler on the I pipe w/a turn down or pipe turned out to the side and drive it until you can afford to get a new catback. Then have it welded on.

Its amazing what people will thieve. Some dumbarse stole a large house plant we had on our porch (wich would have been funny to watch because we lived on the 3rd floor and it was HEAVY and bulky), and very recetly stole the center caps off my wife's 01 GAGT. You can buy a set for $34 w/out the 125k miles these had on them. Thats all right, there will be some adhesive used next time.
